“Usare la tecnologia mi fa sentire in compagnia e …proiettata nel futuro!”

Rosa ha settant’anni, vive da sola in una provincia del sud della Toscana e quando le è stato proposto dalla coordinatrice del servizio domiciliare di partecipare al progetto Pharaon ha accettato senza alcuna esitazione.

Le è stato proposto di sperimentare lo scenario di socializzazione, perché grazie all’uso della Sentab TV Box avrebbe potuto aumentare le occasioni di contatto con i suoi familiari e con Francesca, la sua educatrice domiciliare.

“Mi piace fare le videochiamate e chiacchierare, ma soprattutto mi piace fare i giochi, perché la mia mente ha bisogno di rimanere allenata!”. Rosa racconta che fare le chiamate con la televisione le permette di vedere le persone con cui parla proprio come se fossero lì, ed è più bello così che con una semplice telefonata.

Ammette di avere avuto un po’ di difficoltà all’inizio nell’imparare a usare tutte le funzioni di Sentab, ma Francesca l’ha aiutata con frequenti visite domiciliari, mostrandole più volte i passaggi e stimolandola a provare da sola. Si sente fortunata ad essere stata scelta per questa sperimentazione, e pensa anche di fare qualcosa di utile per tutti gi anziani testando i dispositivi che potranno essere usati stabilmente nei servizi domiciliari.

Mettersi alla prova con strumenti che non conosce e che non ha mai provato prima la fa sentire più giovane e proiettata nel futuro, per questo spera che dopo Pharaon le venga proposto di partecipare a qualche altro progetto!

The experience of an older adult in the socialization scenario

“Using technology makes me feel in company and…projected to the future!”

Rosa is seventy years old; she lives alone in a province in southern Tuscany and when she was asked to participate in the Pharaon project, she accepted without hesitation.

She was requested to test the socialization scenario with the aim of increasing opportunities to keep in contact with her family members and Francesca, her home educator, through the Sentab TV Box.

“I like making video calls and chatting, but above all I like playing games, because my mind needs to stay trained!”. Rosa tells that making calls with television allows her to see people she talks with as they were there, and it’s more beautiful than talking by phone.

She admits she had some difficulties at first to learn how to use Sentab features, but Francesca helped her with frequent home visits, showing her many times every step and pushing her to keep on trying autonomously.

She feels lucky for participating to this trial and she also thinks that testing devices for home care services is something useful for other older adults.

Furthermore, she feels younger and projected into the future testing by herself tools she doesn’t know and she has never tried before.

For the future after Pharaon, she hopes to be involved again in some other project!
